PSLE Maths Questions 2009
AHHH!!! PSLE Maths this year was freakin' hard!

The Difficult Questions that I solved:

~Jim bought some sweets and gave 1/2 of it to Dun. Dun bought some chocolates and gave 1/2 of it to Jim. After Jim ate 12 sweets and Dun ate 18 chocolates, the ratio of the number of sweets and chocolates for Jim & Dun was 1:7 and 1: 4 respectively. How many sweets did Jim buy?

Solution:

Take Jim's ratio as units (Meaning - 1 unit : 7 unit)
Take Dun's ratio as parts(Meaning - 1 part : 4 parts)

Why? Cause they ARE NOT EQUAL!

1 part = 1 unit + 12
4 parts + 18 = 7 units
4 parts = 4 units + 48
4 units + 48 + 18 = 7 units
3 units = 48 + 18 = 66
1 units = 22
22 + 12 = 34
1/2 of Sweets=> 34
Sweets => 68

Answer: 68
