Natural Magnets:

->Object made of material that is surrounded by lines of magnetic force called magnetism
->A.K.A. lodestones

Artificial Magnets:

->Usually made of:Iron, Steel,Special Alloy

Types of Magnets:

1)U-shaped Magnet
2)Horseshoe Magnet
3)Button Magnet
4)Ring Magnet
5)Strip Magnet
6)Bar Magnet
7)Rod Magnet

Magnetism can pass through non-magnetic objects like glass,paper,wood,rubber,etc

Characteristics of magnet:

1) It has a North & South pole
2)It can exert a pulling/pushing force
3)Like poles repel & Unlike poles attract

3 ways to make a magnet:

1)Stroking
2)Electricity
3)Induction

Uses of magnets:
  • Holding objects together(e.g. Pencil Case's cover)
  • Door-stoppers
  • Sepearating magnetic substances from other materials
  • Compass
